When did the BMX bike make its debut?

Well, in the 1970s children in California chose to run around biking on regular dirt paths in the attempt of emulating their favorite motocross hero who they saw on the television more often than not. Schwinn recognized this as a potential market for growth and began to set eh Sting-Ray, which was arguably the first major production BMX Bike. Since then, the BMX industry has gone through a couple different alterations which include the involvement of a 360 degree turn front tire and the addition of the grinding pegs on either side of both of the tires. The modern version of the sport actually is involved in the X-Games which are found every summer on ESPN, which includes a plethora of youth-driven alternative sports to the typical organized team sports that every high school houses.

What makes the road bike an efficient use of human energy?

There are three primary reasons that the road bike is a more efficient use of pedaling power. The first is actually in the pedals. There is a side locking mechanism by which special shoes with the proper knobs on the bottom can be put into the pedals and then your feet are attached to the pedals. This means that you can complete a full rotation of the pedal with one leg, because you can push down on the pedal in the normal 180 degree motion and then pull up on the pedal as well. There is no wasted pedaling with this method, making it more efficient. Also, the seat format is closer to 90 degrees which makes the perpendicular angle your back laying forward towards the handlebars and your legs facing straight down a good angle for efficient biking. Lastly the composition of the bike itself is minimalist in nature, meaning a reduced wind drag as well as a minimized weight through aluminum composites and the like. Professional grade road bikes are held to the overly extreme standard of weight in terms of grams and not simple kilograms or the American pounds.

What is the origin in terms of date and location of the first bike?

The very first bike debuted in the summer of 1817 by an inventor called Baron Karl von Drais in Mannheim. The style of bike he was credited with creating was known as the draisines which were elaborate push bikes, similar to a sitting scooter of today. It was considered the primary precursor the widespread invention of bikes in France and elsewhere, and was also shown in Paris in 1818. The first name of the transport was the running machine, and its rider straddled the large wooden frame that was linked to two in-line wheels. The method of movement was a simple Flintstones trick, whereby you pushed the ground beneath your feet while steering the front wheel with a mechanism that stuck out from the front. The inventor didn’t receive a lot of orders, but by the early 1860s a French duet took the design to new heights by adding the crank drive with pedals, so that the tires could be mechanically propelled forward.
